Mona Mio

Mona Mio is an independent Brussels-based singer-songwriter blending soul, rock, jazz and alternative pop. Her voice — both broken and powerful — carries deeply personal and socially engaged narratives, weaving gospel harmonies, brass textures, infectious rhythms and explosive dynamics into a striking chiaroscuro.

Drawing inspiration from RAYE, Selah Sue and Queen, her genre-fluid sound moves between vulnerability and rebellion, exploring feminism, queerness, mental health, grief and emancipation.

Her debut EP, Trust Issues (2023), confronted sexual violence, toxic relationships and emotional manipulation. Its successor, Into the Light (2026), turned inward, exploring ADHD, social anxiety, grief and self-acceptance. Together, they form the first two chapters of an evolving trilogy: endure, accept, act.

With over 400 playlist placements, airplay across 30 radio stations and 10 weeks in the Belgian Francophone Top 100 for her single Upset (peak #66), Mona Mio continues to build momentum independently.

Her live journey includes performances at Botanique, Museum Night Fever (KBR), Sofar Sounds Paris, La Mule, Jonge Wolven at Gentse Feesten and ACHTERHOF, establishing a powerful stage identity backed by a dynamic four-piece band.

Now developing the trilogy's final chapter, Mona Mio is pushing towards a bolder, more electric and politically engaged sound, exploring women's empowerment, queer identity and reclaiming power over one's own narrative.
