Biographie
Ignazio "Iggy" Di Salvo is an Italian/Belgian guitar player, singer, composer, songwriter, producer, and music educator.
He began studying music at the age of 9, focusing on classical guitar at the Conservatory under the guidance of Master Francesco Buzzurro.
At 16, he composed his first instrumental demo, "Where do the thoughts come from?" and earned recognition as a young talent from several music magazines (including Top Demo on Metal Shock, Chitarre, Raw&Wild, Metal Hammer, Rockeggiando.it). During the same year, he attended Siena Jazz Clinics and obtained the First Level Classical Guitar Diploma from the "Vincenzo Bellini" Conservatory in Caltanissetta.
In 2008, he graduated in Business Economics from the "Luigi Bocconi" University of Milan, with his dissertation titled "Development strategies for niche artistic products: The EGEA case and Italian Jazz."
Simultaneously, he completed his Jazz studies at the Polytechnic of Arts in Milan after five years of dedicated learning. During this period, he had the privilege of studying under Franco Cerri, a pioneering figure in Italian jazz guitar.
In 2009, he participated in seminars at the Berklee College of Music and was selected as the best jazz guitarist.
He then joined the Berklee Umbria Jazz Award Band at Umbria Jazz Winter 2010.
That same year, he won first prize in the "Ziua Chitarelor 2" competition in Bucharest, impressing a prestigious jury including Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson's guitarist), Andreas Oberg, Michael Lee Firkins, Stu Hamm, Dave Martone, William Stravato, and Damjan Pejcinosky.
He was selected as one of the 12 finalists in Guitar Idol 2011 from a pool of over 1030 guitarists worldwide. His song "A night of change" received widespread acclaim, garnering more than 700K views on YouTube.
He attended seminars by renowned musicians such as Jennifer Batten, Steve Trovato, Richard Smith, Dave Liebman, Guthrie Govan, Dave Martone, Michael Lee Firkins, Andreas Oberg, Stu Hamm, Tomaso Lama, and Umberto Fiorentino. Additionally, he studied Jazz Guitar with Bebo Ferra and Umberto Fiorentino.
In 2011, he opened for Reb Beach (Whitesnake, Winger) and Guthrie Govan concerts.
He participated in Nuoro Jazz seminars led by Italian trumpet player Paolo Fresu, earning a prestigious scholarship. He also obtained a Jazz Master's Degree from the Italian Conservatory of Music "Antonio Vivaldi" in Alessandria.
His compositions and educational materials have been published by JTC_Guitar, a leading guitar-related label and educational publishing company.
He studied Fusion-Jazz guitar with Alex Stornello and served as the founder and director of the Modern Music Institute in Milan from 2010 to 2013. He contributed didactic articles and videos to Guitar Club Magazine and introduced his signature "Gnazz tap-pick," an innovative guitar pick for eight-finger tapping.
He appeared as the guitarist in the Peugeot 208 GTI commercial, broadcasted worldwide.
His debut album, "A gift to the World," was released in 2014 to positive reviews from both audiences and critics.
In 2016, he obtained a Master's in Didactics from the "Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles."
He works as a Live/Studio session musician and a Jazz guitar teacher for Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and privately conducting Masterclasses and Clinics.
He released an EP and an Album with the symphonic Metal band Silent Utopia, produced by Joost Van Der Broek (Epica, Blind Guardian, Powerwolf).
He keeps on studying singing at the Universal Voice institute in Amsterdam with Alberto Ter Does and Marcela Bovio. He writes articles for the italian magazines Guitar Club and Music Off.
He currently works as a solo Blues/Rock guitarist and singer-songwriter, and he is currently writing his new album.
