Biographie
AxamentA are no strangers to genre bending conceptalbums of epic proportions. Back in 2006 they worked together with Jacob Hansen (recording), Fredrik Nordstrom (Fredman Studios - mixing) and Daniel Gildenlow (Pain of Salvation - guestvocals) to deliver one of the highest rated progressive metal albums from that year, and dubbed by Svencho from Aborted as "one of the best Belgian releases ever, period".
During a 15 year hiatus, the band's lead songwriter, Ian van Gemeren, honed his skills writing trailer music for Hollywood blockbusters such as "Old" (2021), "Prey" (2022) and even "The Pope's Exorcist" (2023). All this know-how gives the band a unique set of skills to immerse listeners even more in their haunting sound.
This resulted in the new EP "SPIRES", a just-over-23-minutes long epic, where AxamentA pulls out all the stops and takes listeners on a cinematic voyage. Maybe Mark Jansen (Epica), who had a sneak-preview of the whole EP, summarized it best: "Great riffs, melodies, progressive elements and last but not least also great orchestral sounds and production. I'm blown away by this high level of craftmanship!"
