Atroxentis

Biographie

Atroxentis (''Atrocious entity'' in latin) is a belgian extreme metal project born in 1998 on behalf of Thibaut (bass/vocals) and based mostly on old school Death Metal with a touch of Black Metal.
The band made a quick outburst and was directly involved in lots of gigs (with Loudblast, Agathocles, Horresco Referens,...). The same year, they released a demo tape called à¬Evilís Prisoners. Atroxentis split mid-98 but quickly rose from the ashes while Yannick took the lead as frontman (guitars/vocals) along with Sven (drums). Two songs were recorded for the split-CD 'Unleash your
dark side'' inn 22000000..
In 2004, the first self-produced album 'Blood heals my wounds' presented a new richer form of Atroxentis' firm music style. Many gigs followed to promote the album.
In the meantime, began the writing of a complex album with a strong concept : 'VERUS DOMINUS' (the "True Master" in latin). "Verus Dominus" tells us about the slow self-destruction of mankind caused by their disrespect of their true world. This mad ruination of their own earth lead to the doom
of both of them. However, the True Master ("Nature") eventually arose at the end.
This album consisted in an intro and five long chapters with a richer progressive vibe.
Atroxentis started to present some new songs during a couple of live shows and won the contest of the Mass Deathtruction Festival, opening for Vader, Entombed,...
Eventually, the recording sessions of "Verus Dominus" began. The guitars, bass and drums were home recorded but the desire for a deeper and more professional result eventually came up.
Toward this end, Atroxentis decided to work with the famous Behemoth sound-engineer Arkadius 'Malta' Malcewski (Decapitated, Hate...) at the Sound Division Studio in Warsaw (Poland) for the final touch. The physical version came out in 2014.
Atroxentis was then proud to present the thrilling final result during a couple promotional gigs.
However, in order to broaden their audience, Atroxentis embarked on tour with Hate and Noctem end of 2016. This first touring experience allowed them to reach Spain, France, Italy and Germany.
Atroxentis also shared the stage with both Hate and Noctem during their next shows in Belgium.
Starting in 2017, Atroxentis started working on new material in-between the promotional gigs of "Verus Dominus". The urge to compose some more straightforward songs, in opposition with the long tunes of the previous album, presented a new welcomed challenge : building a stronger identity
in shorter timespans. This material will also add a modern Death Metal touch with a well-thought balance between technicallity and punch.
The new EP "Per Aspera ad Astra" ("Through hardships to the stars" in latin) presents the sequel of "Verus Dominus" story-wise. It was also self-produced and mix/mastered by Malta, like the previous one. Atroxentis is working on new promotional material (videoclip, play-through videos, lyrics video)
of "Per Aspera ad Astra".
