Adrian Kurth

Biographie

Adrian Kurth (b. 1986, Eupen, Belgium), is an electronic musician, producer and sound designer. Sculpting sound with digital tools, he builds sonic landscapes and high octane tunes, probing boundaries between noise and music, between structure and chaos. Adrian questions our listening habits by transposing familiar sounds into unfamiliar places, settings or structures. He has recently collaborated with visual artist Fabrice Samyn and dancer and choreographer Manon Santkin on Vanity's Ballroom, an upcoming performance at Kaaitheater Brussels, in which a group of dancers recreate a score of Dmitri Shostakovich, using only their breath and sighs as music instruments. Kurth also created and performed The Tales of Lost and Found with dancer Marcia Liu at Leuven's M Museum (November 2016) and Sint Niklaas' Stadsschouwburg (January 2017). In this piece, Liu improvises on soundscapes created by Kurth, using synths, an electronic monochord of his own making and field recordings collected in Iran. In May 2017 he participated in a series or workshops in Berlin at School of MA, around the subject of vibration and oscillation with lecturers such as Florence To, Jem the Misfit, Sabio Janiak, Willpower. A classically trained singer, Adrian also partakes in different choral and orchestral music projects at Brussels based New Baroque Times.
